Monday night saw a lot of grading activity… Well done to Dohigh Lucy for passing her 1st part aikido brown belt, an excellent and very physical Grading! 30 minutes of spontaneous aikido and kata demonstrations without a break! Good stuff! And Dohigh Jose passed his Nunchaku First Part Test with a great display of judging striking distance with his adapted flow waza.
It was lovely to find some space in the dojo for sword again! So Nick San got back down to his brown belt in sword campaign again, Richard San is hoping to grade him for first part before Christmas!
The aikido black belt hopefuls, Sempai Kash and Sempai Ben looked excellent going through their black belt kata, not long now guys!
Wednesday night had an entirely different feel this week as the mats were arranged in the Dojo center, making a performance arena. Everyone taking a grading in December performed to the whole class several times throughout the evening with pointers given by both Tim San and Tor San.
But the star of the show was Mark San. As he stepped up to perform, Tim San pulled the rug from under his feet by asking for a spontaneous kata instead of his usual syllabus. And didn’t he do well!! No sooner had he finished his bow he was off into an explosive performance of strikes, kicks, moving meditation and focus… Excellent work Sen, well done.
Its not long now guys so we will be turning up the heat on performances over the last few remaining lessons…
See you in the Dojo 🙂
