Wednesday seems to be turning into our big grading night as we had loads more people complete their preliminaries. So big congratulations to Dohighs Ben, Kohighs Jon and Kai-Shin, who started with their ‘5 attack’ combat drills under the guidance of our 2 trainee instructors, Sempies Dave then on to a tough test from Sensei Tim. Also Dohigh Patrick started his grading with a great demonstration of the five attacks combat test, and will hopefully be completing this section next week.
We had some great weapons work being done throughout the evening. Dohigh Nick started work on his kata, and Dohigh Wills worked on and then performed a great display on the Jo staff, demonstrating his knowledge of the weapon in front of everybody, and confirming another successful part one grading completed.
For all you weapon enthusiasts, we will definitely be running a Nunchaku workshop on the 26th November. We should have the venue, and therefore the times confirmed soon. This is taking slightly longer than we had hoped as all our normal training venues have walls with mirrors. Great for correcting stances and posture, but not the best choice for Nunchaku. Keep checking back here. Once we have the venue confirmed we will post the details.
And still on the subject of weapons, we managed to persuade Sensei Richard to do some Jo staff work which we filmed on Monday. This should be appearing on our UTube account soon. For those that haven’t been following this, we now have four clips, so please have a look and let us know what you think and what else you would like to see.
So once again, well done to all who passed their part one gradings this week, and to everybody going to the national gradings, keep up the good work, as they are now only five weeks away”
