As promised another update with pictures on our great new ‘Combat Class’ run by our new black belts, Sensei Jamese and Dave.
But first some quick congratulations to some great weapons 1st part gradings!
Dohigh’s Jon and Chris got theirs in a great display of technical Nunchucka, and Dohigh Lucy achieved advanced weapons part 1, displaying the fearsome abilities of the attacking Jo staff! Well done to all of you, and we have Kohigh Aikido gradings next week!
But now here is Dave San….!
Almost the first 2 months of Combat Class has come and gone and it’s been amazing!!! On a regular basis we’ve had between four and six new people along as well as an assortment of our Dohigh’s and Sempai’s to give us a hand and really lift the atmosphere in the room. Some of the students have also been talking about switching over to doing full lessons and going through the grading process which is great news that we already have had new students hooked and wanting to learn more!
In the last few weeks we have made a concentrated effort to teach our class how to punch and kick properly, and so James San spent some time really drilling this home in a great up tempo exercise that really got them working well. We have also been doing some great conditioning and core stability work with some good hard combat circuit training which included some pad work, a kick work out, with extra core strengthening exercises.
We then moved on to teaching them some great basic skills like wrist locks and break falls, to help them understand and learn some really useful self defence skills.
James San and I are still learning so much from our weekly classes, and having great fun while doing so, and so are all our new students!
We are still lucky to be getting great guidance from the 4th Dan’s in the room, who are always happy to share their 25 years of knowledge with us and the class.
So the future… We have lots of exciting plans for the future weeks, and James San is off on holiday soon, so we’ll be getting some other Sen’s to come along and do some guest appearances, which we are expecting to be very fun!
So remember this is the last free month of training, it will be £5 in March, what a bargain! But great news, if you can bring a friend along then it will still be free for all you Combat students! Plus Tim San and Richard San have told us that as you are Wisewarrior students you are invited to join all the workshops they run free of charge! The next one will be on the 31st of March on Jo and Tonfa, see you there!
